stand by the quake-victims on this difficult hour

 

Islamabad. Members of National Assembly of Pakistan are fully active in the wake of historically worst earthquake in the country and to speed up the efforts underway for the provision and transportation of relief goods to the people stricken by this natural calamity. It was stated by Director Parliamentarians Commission for Human Rights Ms. Riffat Javed Kahlon MNA, Parliamentary Secretary Information Technology and Telecommunication. Speaking in the Relief Cell established in PCHR Secretariat, she said that government under the leadership of President General Pervaiz Musharaf is fully committed to the cause of providing all possible help to quake-stricken people.

 

Parliamentary Secretary, Ms. Riffat Javed Kahlon MNA, has sent a large quantity of relief goods to the victims which comprised of 400 blankets, 200 quilts, 50 dozens socks, 50 crates juices, 700 water crates, 8 large sacks of sugar, medicines, 100 packets of dry milk, wools and 10000 pairs of warm cloths for men, 50000 for women and 6000 for children. Moreover, the relief goods include 300 meter latha for dead bodies and dry ration worth Rs: 50000. Apart from this donated goods, Ms. Riffat Javed Kahlon pointed out that she is personally sending a convoy of two trucks loaded with relief goods is being sent on daily basis to the affected areas of Balakot and Muzafar Abad. She also thanked the people of Norowal (her constituency) for showing generosity in donating relief goods and contribution in this campaign.

 

Ms. Riffat Javed Kahlon also said that that the government has taken steps to avoid looting of relief goods by the robbers as seven hundred men from Punjab Police, one thousand from Islamabad Police as well as personnel from military police, motorway police and rangers has been deployed on the highways and quake-hit areas to ensure safe and secured provision of relief goods to the victims.
