Steps should be taken to curtail Police torture from the society

 

Islamabad:-  Police torture should be eliminated and for this it is necessary to curtail the unlimited powers of police. This was stated by Engineer Gyan Chund Sing MNA and Director Parliamentarians Commission for Human Rights. He was commenting upon the death of Amjed Masih at the hands of police torture in Kohsar Police Station. He said that he had raised the issue in National Assembly upon which the Speaker has directed the Minister of State for Interior Dr. Shehzad Waseem to personally look into the matter.

 

Engineer Gyan Chund Sigh maintained that in a wake of this death by police torture, the victim family is unsafe, as it is being intimidate and pressurized to withdraw from the case. He also said that police is also trying to influence the medical board so as to get the results in its own favor. Calling this incident to be a severe violation of minority’s rights, Engineer Gyan Chund Singh emphasized upon the government to take necessary measures for the protection of victim family and to conduct the impartial as well as independent inquiry of the case so as to bring the alleged culprits to the justice.
