Second phase of workshop on psychological rehabilitation and trauma counseling of earthquake victims begins in Islamabad
Islamabad. National Task Force constituted by Prime Minister of Pakistan Mr. Shaukat Aziz for providing psychological services and trauma counseling to earthquake affectees after successfully completing first phase of master training program, is starting its second phase which is scheduled to be lasted from on 24th November 2005 to 26th November 2005 in Islamabad. Prior to this, NTF has trained twenty three trainers on trauma counseling of earthquake affectees. The training is being carried out by Chief Psychologist of National Task Force Dr. Shohaib Shahid. At the end of the workshop, all the participants will be awarded special certificate from the Government of Pakistan for providing help and counseling to the quake affectees.
Talking to the newsmen, Dr. Shohaib Shahid said that we are in touch with psychologist desiring to get training on trauma counseling, and we have chalked out a comprehensive program of action for the deputation of trained psychologist in quake-hit areas of Muzafarabad, Mansehra, and Bagh. He said that psychologists, psychiatrists, and other experts will deliver variegated lectures covering all possible topics necessary for trauma counseling of the affectees. He also added that social workers, psychologists, and psychiatrists are welcomed to join the workshop so the network for trauma counseling of quake-victims could be increased.
