PCHR Welcomes the Supreme Court decision of

Immediate Release of Javed Hashmi

 

 

Parliamentarians Commission for Human Rights Pakistan (PCHR) welcome the decision of Supreme Court of immediate release of PML-N leader Makhdoom Javed Hashmi who was jailed in 2004 According to a press statement issued by Chief Coordinator PCHR Shafique Chaudhry, PCHR paid rich tributes to Javed Hashmi for his struggle, sacrifice and principled stand. He said Supreme Court order was a victory for truth and justice. He said it has been a long standing demand of PCHR that all political personalities should be dealt with due honor and dignity. They should not be charged of taking part in political activities or making political statements. PCHR had been expressing its solidarity with Javed Hashmi and other political prisoners at many occasions. Different members of PCHR including its Chairman Mr Riaz Fatyana MNA, Executive Members Khwaja Saad Rafique MNA, Mr Abdul Mujeeb Pirzada MNA and Dr. Farid Paracha MNA have been voicing their concerns often on the floor of house by demanding immediate releases of Mr. Javed Hashmi, Asif Zardari (Then prisoner) and others. He said PCHR also appreciates the lawyer’s community of Pakistan for their historic movement which has enabled Pakistan to have a independent judiciary which is pre requisite for a democratic and just society.
