Chief Coordinator, PCHR strongly condemns Benazir Bhutto assassination, terms it as a national tragedy, expresses deep condolences to her family and party workers, urges immediate enquiry of the incident
Islamabad: Chief Coordinator Parliamentarians Commission for Human Rights (PCHR) Shafique Chaudary strongly condemned the assassination of Pakistan People’s Party Chairperson Benazir Bhutto when she was addressing to public gathering in Liaqat Bagh, expressed deep condolences to her family, leaders, members and supporters of PPP and to the bereaved families of those precious people who loss their precious lives and demanded immediate enquiry of this sad incident to bring the culprits to court and punished them. This was stated in a press statement issued here today by PCHR.
“No amount of condemnation will compensate for the sense of loss that fills millions of hearts across the land today and could not even begin to imagine the grief of her family who had been robbed of the jewel in their crown” Chief Coordinator PCHR said. He told it was a tribute to the tenacity of Ms Benazir Bhutto, the politician par excellence, that she kept her father’s political legacy alive in male dominated society. He mentioned that she was a bold and courageous leader, never compromised on her party principles and always committed to her political views. He termed it a national tragedy and said all Pakistanis shared the grief with the Bhutto family and condemned the act of terrorism.
He further told that terrorism was the enemy of humanity, since it neither had a religion nor political party. He termed the killing of Ms Bhutto the murder of democracy and liberalism. He called upon President Musharraf and care taker Prime Minister to Mohammed Mian Soomro to investigate and reveal the conspiracy behind the killing and give exemplary punishment to the culprits and conspirator. He described her death as a monumental tragedy and colossal loss to Pakistan that would condemned by all liberal-minded people.
He also called upon the people of Pakistan to remain peaceful so the enemies of the country could not get advantages of the situation.
